What is Mahila Mandal?
Mahila mandal is a social group for women over the age of 16 yrs.
We have
about 60 members at present.
Mahila Mandal was started three years ago as a platform for the
Hindu women to meet and engage in creative and fun activities and to assist the
temple committee in all its activity.
The activities are selected by the members democratically and one of the members takes lead in organising it. There is a steering group which initiates, plans and executes many of the activities. All members are encouraged to come up with ideas and take lead in organising them. Where possible we use the talents of the member to conduct the workshops.
When does Mahila Mandal meet?
We meet on the last Wednesday of every month at 7.45pm in the Vedic Society
Community Hall. Please note that all MM meetings or classes will take
place on the last Wednesday of every month unless advised otherwise. We WILL NOT
be making phone calls to advise people as it is a fixed date so any interested
persons should turn up at the meeting or

What do the Mahila Mandal do and what
is planned for the future?
Some of the activities carried out in the past 2 years are as
follows:
Flower arranging workshops
Different ways to wear a sari
Vegetable carving
Rangoli design for the Diwali and New Year
Cookery classes for teenagers
Future activities include
Painting class,
How to make flower haar,
Diwali on the Square participation for next year,
and X-mas party.

The Mahila Mandal at ASK - 28th April 2010
The MM ladies were let out for the evening to enjoy a delicious meal and
excellent company at ASK (near Odeon) on Wednesday 28 April 2010.

We had a nice fattening time with the choco crunch this month so decided
that next month we need to be a bit creative.
The February activity will take place on Wed 24th February. This will be
a jewellery workshop where we will be making a beaded bracelet. The cost of this
workshop is £2. This will INCLUDE the cost of materials and will be run by a
lady by the name of Kay Moran who is giving up her time free of charge.
