What is Vedic Sahelis?
Vedic Sahelis is a social group for women over the age of 16 yrs.
We have
about 60 members at present.
Vedic Sahelis was started three years ago as a platform for the
Hindu women to meet and engage in creative and fun activities and to assist the
temple committee in all its activity.

The activities are selected by the members democratically and one
of the members takes lead in organising it. There is a steering group which
initiates, plans and executes many of the activities. All members are encouraged
to come up with ideas and take lead in organising them. Where possible we use
the talents of the member to conduct the workshops.
When does Vedic Sahelis meet?
We meet on the last Wednesday of every month at 7.45pm in the Vedic Society
Community Hall. Please note that all meetings or classes will take
place on the last Wednesday of every month unless advised otherwise. We WILL NOT
be making phone calls to advise people as it is a fixed date so any interested
persons should turn up at the meeting or
email:

Vedic Sahelis Picnic
Vedic Sahelis had organised a picnic for all the family members and
their friends on 18th September at the Hardmoor sports ground in the Trojan
club. It was a fabulous day of fun filled activities for every member of the
family. The sun was playing hide and seek, but that did not dampen the spirit of
children and adults. We had Cherry tomato and spoon race and relay races to
begin with followed by cricket and some football. Indoors we played “Drawing the
Bindi” on a beautiful face, which was hilarious and had good laughter. This was
followed by passing the puppy with music and the usual penalties. There were
some memory games and riddles too. While the elders played card games, some
intellectuals indulged in scrabble. At the end was the musical chairs and the
group Bingo. There were lots of prizes in the form of chocolates and biscuits
most of which disappeared as soon as they were won.
There was so much variety of mouth watering food; it felt that the Annakut had
arrived early. There was steady supply of hot tea and coffee. It was a fun and
laughter filled day with people getting to know each other better. We should do
these kinds of days more often was the overall response.
Well done to the ladies who organised it and well done to all who turned up and
joined the fun.

Smoothies Workshop in May
As we are having very good weather this year and hoping that the summer months
will be nice and hot, a SMOOTHIES WORKSHOP is planned for Wednesday 25th
May 2011 at 8:00pm. There will be demonstrations for 3 – 4 varying types of
Smoothies and how to present them too. The best part is we will get to taste
the mouth-watering, thirst quenching luscious Smoothies presented to us. There
will be a charge of approximately £1.50 - £2.00 per person (this is just to
cover the cost ingredients).
See you on 25th May 2011 to learn how to cool down with refreshing SMOOTHIES
during the hot summer months!

February 2011
We have had the first meeting of the year 2011 for Vedic Sahelis with a good
turnout.
The upcoming activities/meetings are:
February's meeting will be an outing. There was a large interest in this and it
was decided that instead of having a meeting on the last Wednesday of the month,
we would go to watch Meera on Sunday, 06 March 2011 - 7pm at the Nuffield
Theatre. Please see attached leaflet
for more information. Anyone interested to book their own tickets.
This then leads us on to the next meeting in March held on the 30th at 7:45pm in
the Vedic Temple Hall. For a bit of fun, this meeting will hold an Eggless Cake
Competition in which you need to bring in a home baked eggless cake. The cake
could be plain or decorated. The competition will be judged by attendees on the
night (NB: This is a FUN ONLY COMPETITION). We can also share recipes, tips and
ideas for cake making and decorations as well, so please remember to bring all
ideas/tips in with you on the night. We will also be planning future activities
at this meeting
